Reality check

A demo shows what may be possible. These points help judge whether the product fits day-to-day use.

Works well when
  • Predictable delivery, cleaning or guidance routes
  • Sites with elevators, doors and handoff rules defined
  • Repetitive work where staff can handle exceptions
What to check
  • Navigation around guests, children and temporary obstacles
  • Charging, cleaning and refilling requirements
  • Actual handoff behavior when the route is blocked
Not a magic solution
  • A substitute for hospitality and human judgment
  • A guarantee of lower labor cost without workflow changes
  • A safe choice for an untested public environment

About

Tuya Smart unveiled Doova at IFA 2026, an AI home companion robot designed for seniors living alone. It combines proactive safety protection, emotionally intelligent companionship, and smart home coordination, using LDS LiDAR, a four-microphone sound source localization system, and AI vision-based skeletal recognition. If a user falls or faces an emergency, Doova can locate them, move to their side, and initiate an emergency response workflow with a two-way live video call alert to family members if no response is detected within 60 seconds. It also offers conversation, reminders, and voice control of connected home devices, and supports autonomous docking and recharging.
