Reality check

A demo shows what may be possible. These points help judge whether the product fits day-to-day use.

Works well when
  • Research, teleoperation and embodied-AI data collection
  • Structured factory or reception pilots
  • Tasks where a human-shaped workspace matters
What to check
  • Continuous runtime, fall recovery and battery workflow
  • SDK, low-level control access and spare-part lead time
  • Emergency-stop features and supported operating environments
Not a magic solution
  • A general replacement for a human across unpredictable tasks
  • A maintenance-free appliance
  • A guaranteed return based on a demo alone

About

NEO is 1X’s humanoid for home use, with voice interaction, chore scheduling and remote control. Early Access provides foundational autonomy. For tasks it has not learned, scheduled Expert Mode lets a 1X expert remotely guide the robot. Autonomous and remotely assisted tasks should therefore be distinguished. The official page separates lifting, carrying and arm payload, and lists different ingress protection for hands and body. It accepts a reservation deposit; the deposit is not the full purchase price, and an order button does not establish local stock or delivery eligibility.
