Reality check

A demo shows what may be possible. These points help judge whether the product fits day-to-day use.

Works well when
  • Stable, repetitive handling, tending, welding or assembly
  • Processes with known parts, fixtures and cycle times
  • Cells where an integrator can own commissioning
What to check
  • Payload after adding the gripper and cables
  • End effector, vision and safety-cell cost
  • Changeover time when the part or fixture changes
Not a magic solution
  • A solution for a process that changes every day
  • A turnkey cell without integration and safety work
  • A reason to skip measuring the current process

About

FANUC CRX-5iA is a six-axis collaborative arm for manufacturing automation. The exact-model datasheet lists 5 kg maximum wrist load, 994 mm reach, 25 kg mechanical weight and ±0.03 mm repeatability under ISO 9283. It supports manual-guided teaching and tablet programming. The datasheet separates 1000 mm/s standard speed from 2000 mm/s high-speed mode. End tooling, wrist moment and inertia limits must be considered alongside load mass. Cleanroom and food-grade options are not standard equipment.
